긍휼히 여기는 자는 긍휼히 여김을 받을 것이다

생애 자체가 고통스런 투쟁이 되는 사람들이 많이 있다.

그들은 늘 부족을 느끼며, 괴로워하고 불신을 나타낸다.

자신들에게는 감사할 것이 아무것도 없다고 생각한다.

계속 투쟁하는 고독한 많은 사람들에게 있어서, 친절한 말과 동정의 표정과 감사의 표시는

마치 목마른 사람에게 냉수 한 그릇과 같을 것이다.

동정의 말 한 마디, 친절한 행동 하나는 피곤한 어깨에 무겁게 지워져 있는 짐을 치워 줄 것이다. 따라서 사심이 없는 모든 친절한 말과 행동은 잃어버린 인류를 위한 그리스도의 사랑의 표현이다.

긍휼히 여기는 자는 “긍휼히 여김을 받을 것이”다.

“구제를 좋아하는 자는 풍족하여질 것이요 남을 윤택하게 하는 자는 윤택하여지리라”(잠11:25절). 다른 사람들의 유익을 위한 헌신적인 봉사의 생애에는

동정심을 가지는 데서 오는 만족스런 평안 즉 즐거운 만족이 있다.

영혼 속에 거하시고 사람의 생애에 뚜렷하게 나타나시는 성령은

딱딱한 마음을 부드럽게 하고 동정심과 자비심을 불러일으켜 준다.

그대는 심은 대로 거두게 될 것이다.

“빈약한 자를 권고하는 자가 복이 있음이여...

여호와께서 저를 보호하사 살게 하시리니 저가 세상에서 복을 받을 것이라

주여 저를 그 원수의 뜻에 맡기지 마소서

여호와께서 쇠약한 병상에서 저를 붙드시고 저의 병중 그 자리를 다 고쳐 펴시나이다”(시41:1~3).

하나님의 자녀들을 위한 봉사로 생애를 하나님께 바치는 자는 누구나

우주의 모든 자원을 마음대로 쓸 수 있는 분과 연결된다.

그의 생애는 변함없는 언약의 황금 고리로써 하나님의 생애와 하나로 이어진다.

주님께서는 고통과 궁핍의 시간에 그를 잊지 않으실 것이다.

“나의 하나님이 그리스도 예수 안에서

영광 가운데 그 풍성한 대로 너희 모든 쓸 것을 채우시리라”(빌립보서 4:19).

긍휼히 여기는 자는 가장 어려운 시간에, 긍휼히 여기시는 구주의 자비 안에서 피난처를 찾게 되고 영원한 거처로 영접 받게 될 것이다.

The Merciful Shall Obtain Mercy

There are many to whom life is a painful struggle; they feel their deficiencies and are miserable and unbelieving; they think they have nothing for which to be grateful. Kind words, looks of sympathy, ｅxpressions of appreciation, would be to many a struggling and lonely one as the cup of cold water to a thirsty soul. A word of sympathy, an act of kindness, would lift burdens that rest heavily upon weary shoulders. And every word or deed of unselfish kindness is an ｅxpression of the love of Christ for lost humanity.

 The merciful “shall obtain mercy.” “The soul of blessing shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.” Proverbs 11:25 , margin. There is sweet peace for the compassionate spirit, a blessed satisfaction in the life of self-forgetful service for the good of others. The Holy Spirit that abides in the soul and is manifest in the life will soften hard hearts and awaken sympathy and tenderness. You will reap that which you sow. “Blessed is he that considered the poor.... The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and Thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: Thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.” Psalm 41:1-3.

 He who has given his life to God in ministry to His children is linked with Him who has all the resources of the universe at His command. His life is bound up by the golden chain of the immutable promises with the life of God. The Lord will not fail him in the hour of suffering and need. “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19. And in the hour of final need the merciful shall find refuge in the mercy of the compassionate Savior and shall be received into everlasting habitations.
