요한복음 1:14 / 찬 32

 

말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하시매 우리가 그의 영광을 보니

아버지의 독생자의 영광이요 은혜와 진리가 충만하더라

 

 

IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. -John 1:14

It was the buzz of our neighborhood. A famous professional football player had moved in just two houses down from where we lived. We had seen him on television and read about his great skills on the field, but we never thought he would choose to reside in our neighborhood. Initially, our expectations were that we would welcome him into the neighborhood and we would all become great friends. But his life was obviously far too busy for any of us to get to know him personally. Imagine this: Jesus-the Lord of the universe and Creator of all things-chose to dwell among us! He left heaven and came to this earth. As John says, “We beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father”(John 1:14). Jesus chose to become intimately involved with all who will come to Him. And, even more significant, for those of us who have received His redeeming love, the Holy Spirit has now set up residence in our hearts to comfort, counsel, convict, lead, and teach us. When you think of the Babe in the manger, remember how special it is that He not only moved into our “neighborhood,”but that He did it so He could bless us with the intimate privileges of His residence within us. -Joe Stowell

Lord, I’m amazed that You, the greatest one of all, would take up residence within us! Help us to treasure the gift of Your presence as our ultimate joy. Draw us to Yourself to enjoy intimacy with You.

말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하시매 -요한복음 1:14

우리 동네가 소란스러워졌습니다. 유명한 미식 프로축구 선수가 우리 집에서 단지 두 집 건너로 이사 왔기 때문입니다. 우리는 그를 텔레비전에서 계속 보아왔고, 경기할 때의 뛰어난 기술에 관해 읽었었지만, 그가 우리 동네에 살기로 결정하리라고는 전혀 생각하지 못했습니다. 처음에, 우리는 그를 우리 이웃으로 환영하고 모두가 그의 좋은 친구가 될 것으로 기대했습니다. 그러나 그의 생활은 우리가 그를 개인적으로 알게 되기에는 정말 너무 바빴습니다. 우주의 주님이시며 만물의 창조주이신 예수님이 우리와 더불어 살기로 결정하셨다는 것을 상상해보십시오! 주님이 천국을 떠나 이 땅으로 오셨습니다. 요한이 말한 것처럼 “우리가 그의 영광을 보니 아버지의 독생자의 영광”(요 1:14)이었습니다. 예수님은 그에게로 오는 모든 사람들과 친밀한 관계를 맺기로 결정하셨습니다. 그리고 더욱 중요한 것은 주님의 구원의 사랑을 받아들인 우리를 위해 성령께서 이제 우리를 위로하고 권고하고 깨닫게 하고 인도하고 가르치시기 위해 우리 마음에 내주하고 계신다는 사실입니다. 당신이 구유 속의 아기 예수를 생각할 때, 주님이 우리의 ‘이웃’으로 오셨을 뿐만 아니라, 그렇게 하심으로써 우리 안에 주님이 임재하시는 친밀한 특권으로 축복해 주셨다는 것이 얼마나 특별한 일인지 기억하십시오.

주님, 만유 중 가장 위대하신 주님이 우리 안에 거하시니 얼마나 놀라운지요! 주님의 임재의 선물을 우리의 궁극적인 기쁨으로 소중히 여길 수 있도록 도와주소서. 주님과의 친밀함을 즐길 수 있도록 우리를 주님께로 이끌어주소서.

하나님의 임재의 선물을 잘 활용하라.
