개혁이 따르지 않는 회개는 참된 회개가 아니다

 

그리스도의 의는 자복하지 않고 버리지 않은 죄를 덮는 외투가 아니다.

품성을 변화시키고 행동을 제어하는 것이 생애의 원칙이다.

 

거룩함이란 하나님께 전체를 바치는 것이며

마음속에 있는 하늘의 원칙에 마음과 생애를 완전히 복종시키는 것이다.

 

그리스도인은 사업에서 우리 주께서 기업을 관장하실 때 취하실 태도를 세상에 나타내어야 한다.

모든 거래에 있어서 그리스도인은 하나님을 그의 스승으로 나타낼 수 있어야 한다.

“여호와께 성결”이란 말은 부기장과 장부와 증서와 영수증과 환어음에 기록되어야 한다.

 

그리스도를 따른다고 말하면서 불의한 행동을 하는 자들은

거룩하고 의롭고 인자하신 하나님의 품성에 대하여 거짓 증거를 하는 것이다.

 

회개한 모든 영혼은 삭개오와 같이 그의 생애에 오점을 찍은 불의한 행동을 버림으로써

그리스도께서 마음속에 들어오셨음을 뚜렷이 나타낼 것이다.

세리장과 같이 그리스도인은 손해를 배상함으로 그의 성실함을 증거할 것이다.

“전당물을 도로 주며 억탈물을 돌려보내고 생명의 율례를 준행하여 다시는 죄악을 짓지 아니하면…그의 본래 범한 모든 죄가 기억되지 아니하리니 그가 정녕 살리라” (겔 33：15, 16)고

주께서 말씀하신다.

 

만일 우리가 불의한 상거래를 통하여 다른 사람을 속였거나 매매에서 사취하거나

어떤 사람에게라도 사기를 했으면 비록 이 일이 법의 테두리 안에서 이루어졌을지라도

우리는 잘못을 자복하고 힘이 미치는 한 배상하여야 한다.

우리가 탈취한 것뿐만 아니라

우리가 소유하고 있는 동안에 바르고 현명하게 사용했더라면 축적되었을 모든 것을

변상하는 것이 바른 일이다.

 

 

No Repentance Is Genuine That Does Not Work Reformation

 

The righteousness of Christ is not a cloak to cover unconfessed and unforsaken sin; it is a principle of life that transforms the character and controls the conduct. Holiness is wholeness for God; it is the entire surrender of heart and life to the indwelling of the principles of heaven.

The Christian in his business life is to represent to the world the manner in which our Lord would conduct business enterprises. In every transaction he is to make it manifest that God is his teacher. "Holiness unto the Lord" is to be written upon daybooks and ledgers, on deeds, receipts, and bills of exchange. Those who profess to be followers of Christ, and who deal in an unrighteous manner, are bearing false witness against the character of a holy, just, and merciful God. Every converted soul will, like Zacchaeus, signalize the entrance of Christ into his heart by an abandonment of the unrighteous practices that have marked his life. Like the chief publican, he will give proof of his sincerity by making restitution. The Lord says, "If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed,

walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; . . . none of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: . . . He shall surely live." (Ezek. 33:15, 16.)

If we have injured others through any unjust business transaction, if we have overreached in trade, or defrauded any man, even though it be within the pale of the law, we should confess our wrong, and make restitution as far as lies in our power. It is right for us to restore not only that which we have taken, but all that it would have accumulated if put to a right and wise use during the time it has been in our possession. – Desires of Ages, 555-556.
