자신을 보지 말고 그리스도를 쳐다보라

                     자신을 보지 말고 그리스도를 쳐다보라

 

“무엇을 하실 수 있거든 우리를 불쌍히 여기사 도와주시옵소서.”

죄에 눌린 얼마나 많은 영혼들이 그 기도를 반복하고 있는가.

그런데 동정이 많으신 구주께서는 이 모든 사람들에게

“할 수 있거든이 무슨 말이냐, 믿는 자에게는 능치 못할 일이 없느니라”고

대답하신다. 

 

우리를 하늘과 연결시키고 흑암의 권세와 겨루어 싸울 힘을 주는 것은 믿음이다.

하나님께서는 모든 죄된 특성을 정복하고,

아무리 강할지라도 모든 시험을 대항할 수 있는 방도를 그리스도 안에 준비하셨다.

 

그러나 많은 사람들이 자신들은 믿음이 부족하다고 생각하므로 그리스도에게서

떨어져 있다.

이런 사람들은 저희의 어쩔 수 없는 무가치함 중에도

긍휼하신 구주의 자비에 전적으로 자신을 맡기도록 하라.

자신을 보지 말고 그리스도를 쳐다보라.

사람들 가운데 거닐면서 병든 자를 고치고 마귀를 내쫓으신 그리스도께서는

오늘날에도 역시 능력 있으신 구속주이시다.

 

믿음은 하나님의 말씀에서 온다. 그러므로

“내게 오는 자는 내가 결코 내어 쫓지 아니하리라”(요 6：37)는 그분의 약속을

굳게 붙잡으라.

그분의 발아래 몸을 던지고

“내가 믿나이다. 나의 믿음 없는 것을 당신께서 도와주소서”라고 부르짖으라.

그대가 이렇게 하는 동안에는 결코 멸망할 수 없다. 절대로 멸망할 수 없다.

Look Not to Self, But to Christ

 

"If Thou canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us." How many a sin-burdened soul has echoed that prayer.

And to all, the pitying Saviour's answer is,

"If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth."

 

It is faith that connects us with heaven, and brings us strength for coping with the powers of darkness.

In Christ, God has provided means for subduing every sinful trait,

and resisting every temptation, however strong.

 

But many feel that they lack faith, and therefore they remain away from Christ.

Let these souls, in their helpless unworthiness, cast themselves upon the mercy of their compassionate Saviour.

Look not to self, but to Christ.

He who healed the sick and cast out demons

when He walked among men is the same mighty Redeemer today.

 

Faith comes by the word of God.

Then grasp His promise,

"Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out." John 6:37.

Cast yourself at His feet with the cry,

"Lord, I believe; help Thou mine unbelief."

You can never perish while you do this--never.
