우리들은 바라봄으로 변하게 된다

우리들은 바라봄으로 변하게 된다.

거룩한 모본이신 주님의 완전하심을 명상할 때에 우리들은 완전한 변화를 입으려는 욕망을 품게 될 것이며, 주님의 순결하신 형상을 따라 새로 지음을 입게 될 것이다.

품성의 변화가 이루어지며 진노의 자식이 하나님의 자녀가 되게 하는 것은

하나님의 아들을 믿는 믿음 때문인 것이다.

그는 사망에서 생명으로 나가게 되며 신령하게 되어 신령한 사물들을 분별한다.

하나님의 지혜는 그의 정신을 일깨워 주며

하나님의 율법의 기이한 이치를 바라보게 될 것이다.

사람이 진리로 말미암아 회개하게 될 때에 품성이 변화하는 작업이 시작된다.

또한 그에게는 이해력이 크게 증가하게 된다.

 

그는 하나님께 순종하는 자가 되며

그리스도의 정신을 소유하게 되고

하나님의 뜻을 자신의 뜻으로 삼게 될 것이다.

 

자기 자신을 성령의 지도하심에 전적으로 맡길 때에

그의 정신이 확장되고 계발되는 사실을 발견하게 될 것이다.

하나님을 섬기는 생활 가운데서 편벽되지 않고 결함이 없는 교육을 받게 될 것이며

오직 균형과 완전을 추구하는 계발된 품성을 갖게 될 것이다.

 

흔들리는 의지와 무기력한 품성에 나타나는 유약성은 극복하게 되고

계속적인 헌신과 경건의 생애는 사람으로 그리스도와 밀접한 관계를 맺게 하므로

그리스도의 정신을 가지게 한다.

그는 그리스도와 하나가 되고 건전한 정신과 원칙적인 사상을 갖게 된다.

그의 식별력은 투철하고 하나님에게서 오는 지혜를 나타내게 된다.

By Beholding We are to Become Changed

 

By beholding we are to become changed; and as we meditate upon the perfections of the divine Model, we shall desire to become wholly transformed, and renewed in the image of His purity. It is by faith in the Son of God that transformation takes place in the character, and the child of wrath becomes the child of God. He passes from death unto life; he becomes spiritual and discerns spiritual things. The wisdom of God enlightens his mind, and he beholds wondrous things out of His law. As a man is converted by the truth, the work of transformation of character goes on. He has an increased measure of understanding. In becoming a man of obedience to God, he has the mind of Christ, and the will of God becomes his will.

He who places himself unreservedly under the guidance of the Spirit of God, will find that his mind expands and develops. He obtains an education in the service of God which is not one-sided and deficient, developing a one-sided character, but one which results in symmetry and completeness. Weaknesses that have been manifested in a vacillating will and powerless character, are overcome, for continual devotion and piety bring the man in such close relation to Christ that he has the mind of Christ. He is one with Christ, having soundness and strength of principle. His perception is clear, and he manifests that wisdom which comes from God. – Selected massages I, 338.
