하나님의 은혜에 응답하는 사람

하나님의 모든 선물을 우리 기억에 생생하게 보존하는 것은 우리 자신에게 유익이 된다. 그리하여 믿음은 더욱더 많이 요구하고 받아들이도록 강화된다. 우리는 다른 사람들의 믿음과 경험에 대해서 읽을 수 있는 모든 기사 가운데서 보다 자신이 하나님에게서 직접 얻는 가장 적은 축복 가운데서 더 많은 격려를 얻는다. 하나님의 은혜에 응답하는 사람은 물 댄 정원과 같다. 그의 치료는 급속할 것이며 그의 빛은 흑암 중에서 빛날 것이며 주의 영광이 그에게 나타날 것이다.

그러므로 우리는 주의 자비와 그 많은 긍휼을 기억하도록 하자. 이스라엘 백성처럼 증거의 돌비를 세워 하나님께서 우리를 위해 행하신 그 귀한 이야기를 그 돌에 새기자. 그리하여 주께서 우리의 순례길에서 우리를 취급하신 일들을 돌아보고 감사함이 충만한 마음으로 “여호와께서 내게 주신 모든 은혜를 무엇으로 보답할꼬 내가 구원의 잔을 들고 여호와의 이름을 부르며 여호와의 모든 백성 앞에서 나의 서원을 여호와께 갚으리로다”(시 116：12~14)고 말하자. – 시대의 소망, 348.

The Soul That Responds To the Grace of God

It is for our own benefit to keep every gift of God fresh in our memory. Thus faith is strengthened to claim and to receive more and more. There is greater encouragement for us in the least blessing we ourselves receive from God than in all the accounts we can read of the faith and experience of others. The soul that responds to the grace of God shall be like a watered garden. His health shall spring forth speedily; his light shall rise in obscurity, and the glory of the Lord shall be seen upon him.

Let us then remember the loving-kindness of the Lord, and the multitude of His tender mercies. Like the people of Israel, let us set up our stones of witness, and inscribe upon them the precious story of what God has wrought for us. And as we review His dealings with us in our pilgrimage, let us, out of hearts melted with gratitude, declare, "What shall I render unto the Lord for all His benefits toward me? I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord. I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all His people." Ps. - 116:12-14. Desires of Ages, 348.
