그리스도의 놀라운 사랑과 긍휼에 대하여 생각할 때

우리가 다른 사람들의 불친절한 행동에 대하여 계속해서 생각하게 되면

우리는 그리스도께서 우리를 사랑하시는 것처럼 그들을 사랑할 수 없다.

우리가 그분의 놀라운 사랑과 긍휼에 대하여 생각할 때 그리스도의 정신이 우리에게서 흘러 나가게 된다.

우리가 비록 결함밖에 볼 수 없을지라도 우리는 피차간에 사랑하고 존경하게 될 것이다.

우리는 겸손해지기 위하여 노력하고 우리 스스로를 신뢰하지 말아야 한다.

만일 우리가 다른 사람들의 결점에 대하여 잘 참게 되면

우리는 우리 자신의 이기심을 잃어버리게 될 것이다.

 

우리는 친절한 마음을 갖게 되고 관대해질 것이다.

 

 

If Our Thoughts Dwell Upon the Wondrous Love and Pity of Christ

 

If we keep uppermost in our minds the unkind and unjust acts of others we shall find it impossible to love them as Christ has loved us; but if our thoughts dwell upon the wondrous love and pity of Christ for us, the same spirit will flow out to others. We should love and respect one another, notwithstanding the faults and imperfections that we cannot help seeing. Humility and self-distrust should be cultivated, and a patient tenderness with the faults of others. This will kill out all narrowing selfishness and make us large-hearted and generous. – Steps to Christ, 121.
