그의 말에는 쉽고 그의 짐은 가볍다고 가르치심

 “이는 내 멍에는 쉽고 내 짐은 가벼움이라 하시니라“ (마 11:30).

. . . 멍에를 멘다는 것은

하나님께서 사랑하시는 아들과 교우 관계를 맺고 있는 유한한 사람과 연합하는 것이다. 

십자가를 지면 영혼으로부터 자아가 잘려 나가고 그는 그리스도의 짐을 지는 법을 배우는 곳에 있게 된다. . .

만약 우리의 뜻이 하나님의 요구 사항과 일치하지 않으면

우리는 우리의 성향을 부인하고, 우리가 하고 싶은 것을 포기하고 주님의 발자취를 따라야 한다. . .

사람들은 가벼워 보이고, 즐겁게 멜만한 멍에를 자기들의 목에 맞추어 만들지만

그것은 곧 아주 지기 힘든 멍에임이 판명될 것이다. 

그리스도께서 이것을 미리 아시고,

“나의 멍에를 메라 네게 아주 잘 맞을 것이라고 생각하라.

네가 스스로 멘 멍에는 전혀 맞지 않을 것이다.

나의 멍에를 메고 네가 필수적으로 배워야 할 교훈을 내게서 배우라. 

나는 마음이 온유하고 겸손하다. 그러므로 그대의 영혼이 쉼을 얻으리니

”내 멍에는 쉽고 내 짐은 가벼움이라”. 

주님은 그분의 유산에 관하여 결코 거짓된 평가를 하지 않으신다.

그분은 그분과 함께 일하고 있는 사람들을 평가해 보신다.

그들이 그리스도의 멍에에 복종하고,

자신과 하나님의 사업을 위해서 별 유익이 없는 투쟁을 포기할 때

평안과 안식을 얻을 것이다. 

그들이 자신의 약점과 자신의 결점에 대하여 민감하게 될 때에 그들은 하나님의 뜻 행하기를 즐거워할 것이다. 그들은 그리스도의 멍에를 멜 것이다.

그 다음에 하나님은 그들 안에서 일하실 수가 있으시고 자기의 기쁘신 뜻을 따라 행하실 것이다. 

그것은 흔히 사람의 마음의 계획과는 전혀 반대인 경우도 더러 있다.

그러나 하늘에서 우리에게 기름을 부으실 때

우리는 언제나 영혼에 쉼을 주는 온유와 겸손의 공과를 배울 것이다.

그대들이 시련을 만날지라도 잘 견디기만 하면, 그대들의 길은 더욱 가치 있게 될 것이다.

He Teaches Us His Things is Easy, His Burden, Light

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:30.

. . . Wearing the yoke unites finite man in companionship with the dearly beloved Son of God. Lifting the cross cuts away self from the soul, and places man where he learns how to bear Christ’s burdens. . .

If our will is not in accord with the divine requirements, we are to deny our inclinations, give up our darling desires, and step in Christ’s footsteps.... 

Men frame for their own necks yokes that seem light and pleasant to wear, but they prove galling in the extreme.

Christ sees this, and He says, Take My yoke upon you. The yoke you would place upon your own neck, thinking it a precise fit, will not fit at all. 

Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me the lessons essential for you to learn; for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls. My yoke is easy, and My burden is light. 

The Lord never makes a false estimate concerning His heritage. He measures the men with whom He is working. 

When they submit to His yoke, when they give up the struggle that has been unprofitable for themselves and for the cause of God, they will find peace and rest. 

When they become sensible of their own weakness, their own deficiencies, they will delight to do God’s will. 

They will submit to the yoke of Christ. Then God can work in them to will and to do of His good pleasure, which is often entirely contrary to the plans of the human mind. 

When the heavenly anointing comes to us, we shall learn the lesson of meekness and lowliness, which always brings rest to the soul.

Although you will have trials, yet these trials, well borne, only make the way more precious.
