그 때가 지금이다

우리가 우리 자신과 우리의 자녀들을 세상에서 흠 없이 보존해야 할 때는 지금이다.

우리가 우리의 품성의 두루마기를 빨아서 어린 양의 피로 희게 해야 하는 때는 지금이다.

우리가 교만과 정욕과 영적 나태를 극복해야 하는 때는 지금이다. 

우리가 눈을 뜨고 품성의 균형을 위하여 결정적인 노력을 해야 하는 때는 지금이다.

“오늘날 너희가 그의 음성을 듣거든 … 너희 마음을 강퍅케 하지 말라” (히 3:7, 8).

우리가 가장 견디기 어려운 처지에서 우리 주님의 나타나심을 기다리며 고대하고 있다.

세상은 흑암에 싸여 있다. 바울은 이렇게 말한다. 

“형제들아 너희는 어두움에 있지 아니하매 그 날이 도적같이 너희에게 임하지 못하리니” (살전 5:4).

기다리고 갈급한 영혼에게 어두움에서 빛을, 슬픔에서 기쁨을, 괴로움에서 안식을 가져다 주는 것이

언제나 하나님의 목적이다.

It is Now

It is now that we must keep ourselves and our children unspotted from the world.

It is now that we must wash our robes of character and make them white in the blood of the Lamb.

It is now that we must overcome pride, passion, and spiritual slothfulness.

It is now that we must awake and make determined effort for symmetry of character.

“Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts (Hebrews 3:7, 8)”

We are in a most trying position, waiting, watching for our Lord’s appearing.

The world is in darkness. “But ye, brethren,” says Paul, “are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.”

It is ever God’s purpose to bring light out of darkness, joy out of sorrow, and rest out of weariness for the waiting, longing soul.
