그의 은혜와 권능의 상장들

그리스도께서는 무한하신 희생을 하셨다. 그는 우리를 위하여 자신의 목숨을 바치셨다. 그는 하나님의 율법을 범한데 대한 영적 책임을 그 스스로 지셨다. 그는 존귀한 면류관을 벗어 놓으시고 한 걸음 두 걸음 타락된 인간의 수준까지 낮은데로 내려 오셨던 것이다. 그분께서는 우리에게 영생을 주시기 위하여 우리를 대신하여 갈바리 십자가에 달리셨다...

그분께서 우리를 하나님의 자녀라 부르시려고 이 모든 것을 참으신 것을 적은 일로 보아야 하겠는가? 불멸의 유업에 참예하고 하늘 왕의 자녀가 되며, 왕족의 일원이 되는 것이 적은 일이라고 보아야 하겠는가?

우리들은 왕족의 가족이 된다. 그리고 하늘 왕의 자녀가 된다. 예수 그리스도의 긍휼을 통하여 이 하나님의 무한하신 선하심은 우리를 아끼시고 우리를 고상하게 하시고 높이시며 우리에게 그리스도의 의를 입혀 주심으로 우리를 용서하시고 의롭다고 하셨다...

그는 우리를 당신의 보석이라고 부르신다. 그리고 우리는 그에게 특별한 보화인 것이다. 저들은 그의 은혜와 권능의 상장들이다. 그분께서는 남녀들을 저들의 타락에서 들어올려 그들을 의롭다고 하신다. 그러므로 저들은 저들 자신의 것이 아니요 값으로 산 바된 것이다. 그들은 그분의 영광의 풍성함이시며 위대함이 된다. 그러므로 저들은 그의 후사요, 그의 자녀요, 그리스도의 몸의 지체요, 그의 뼈요 살이다. 그들은 주님의 무한하신 관계를 통하여 그분께 연결되었다.

Trophies of His Grace and Power

Christ has made an infinite sacrifice. He gave His own life for us. He took upon His divine soul the result of the transgression of God’s law. Laying aside His royal crown, He condescended to step down, step by step, to the level of fallen humanity. He hung upon Calvary’s cross, dying in our behalf, that we might have eternal life....

Does it seem a small thing that He should endure all this, that we might be called the sons of God? Does it seem a small thing to you to become members of the royal family, children of the heavenly King, partakers of an immortal inheritance?

Such is the infinite goodness of God that through Jesus Christ’s merits He not only spares but pardons and justifies us, and through the righteousness of Christ imputes righteousness to us, and exalts and ennobles us by making us children of His adoption. We become members of the royal family, children of the heavenly King. He lifts men and women from their degradation and exalts them in righteousness....

He calls them His jewels, and a peculiar treasure unto Him. They are trophies of His grace and power, and of His greatness and riches in glory. They therefore are not their own, but are bought with a price, and through the extraordinary office of the atonement of Christ have been brought into nearness and the most sacred relationship to Jesus Christ. They are called His heritage, His children, the members of Christ’s body, of His flesh and of His bones; yea, they are joined to the Lord by intimate relationship with Him.
