입술의 문을 항상 지킬 자가 누군가?

 

사랑하는 친구여, 그대 속에서 전적인 변화가 일어나야 한다.

그렇지 않으면 저울에 달려서 부족함이 보일 것이다...

 

“누구든지 스스로 경건하다 생각하며 자기 혀를 재갈 먹이지 아니하고 자기 마음을 속이면

이 사람의 경건은 헛것이라.”

 

많은 사람들이 이 중요한 문제로 인해 저울에 달려 부족함이 뵈일 것이다.

 

이 규칙에 합당하게 사는 신자가 어디 있는가?

악담하는 자를 반대하여 하나님 편에 설 자가 누군가?

누가 하나님을 기쁘시게 할까?

입에 파수꾼을 늘 세워, 입술의 문을 항상 지킬 자가 누군가?

 

사람들에 대해 악담하지 말라.

악담을 듣지도 말라. 듣는 자가 없으면 악담하는 자가 없을 것이다.

누가 그대의 눈앞에서 악담을 하면, 그를 말리라.

그의 말이 부드럽고 억양이 유순하다 하더라도 듣지 말라.

애착심이 있어서 말한다고 하겠지만 보이지 않는 곳에서 그 성품을 해친다...

왜냐하면 대적 마귀가 우는 사자와 같이 이리저리 다니면서 삼킬 자를 찾기 때문이다.

우리는 믿음에 굳게 서서 그를 저항해야 한다.

 

“생명을 사랑하고 좋은 날 보기를 원하는 자는 혀를 금하여 악한 말을 그치며

그 입술로 궤휼을 말하지 말고 악에서 떠나 선을 행하고 화평을 구하여 이를 좇으라

주의 눈은 의인을 향하시고 그의 귀는 저의 간구에 기울이시되 …” (벧전 3:10-12).

 

Who will keep the door of the lips?

 

Dear friend, an entire transformation must take place in you, or

you will be weighed in the balance and found wanting...

 

“If any man [or woman] among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue,

but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.”

 

Many will be weighed in the balance

and found wanting in this matter of so great importance.

 

Where are the Christians who walk by this rule?

who will take God’s part against the evilspeaker?

who will please God, and set a watch, a continual watch, before the mouth,

and keep the door of the lips?

 

Speak evil of no man.

Hear evil of no man. If there be no hearers, there will be no speakers of evil.

If anyone speaks evil in your presence, check him.

Refuse to hear him, though his manner be ever so soft and his accents mild.

He may profess attachment, and yet throw out covert hints

and stab the character in the dark.

Those who are preparing for the coming of Christ should be sober and watch

unto prayer, for our adversary, the devil, goeth about like a roaring lion,

seeking whom he may devour; whom we are to resist steadfast in the faith.

 

“He that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil,

and his lips that they speak no guile: let him eschew evil,

and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers (1 Peter 3:10-12).”
