하나님의 종들이 치르고 있는 전쟁
결코 졸지 않고 주무시지 않으시는 분께서는 자신의 활동 영역을 택하는 각 일꾼들을 살펴보신다. 온 하늘은, 외관상 불리한 환경에서 하나님의 종들이 치르고 있는 전쟁을 지켜보고 있다. 주님의 종들이 그들의 구속주의 깃발 주위에 모여서 믿음의 선한 싸움을 싸우기 위해 나갈 때 새로운 정복이 이루어지고 새로운 영광을 얻게 된다. 모든 하늘의 천사들은 겸손하고 믿는 하나님의 백성들을 섬기고 있다. 그리고 주님의 일꾼의 군대가 이곳 지상에서 찬양의 노래를 부를 때, 하늘의 찬양대는 감사로, 하늘과 그분의 아들께 영광을 돌리며 그들과 연합한다.
자신의 무가치를 느끼고 구주의 공로에 완전히 의지하는 영혼은 외관상으로 무력해 보이지만 실제로는 가장 이겨내기 어렵다. 하나님께서는 그런 자가 정복당하도록 허용하기는커녕 그를 도와주기 위하여 하늘에 있는 모든 천사를 보내실 것이다.
전쟁의 외침이 전선을 따라 들리고 있다. 모든 십자가의 군사는 자부심에서가 아니고, 온유하고 겸손하게, 그리고 하나님을 믿는 확고한 믿음으로 싸우러 나가야 한다. 그대들의 사업, 나의 사업은 이생으로 끝나지 않을 것이다. 잠시 후에 우리는 무덤에서 쉬게 될 것이다. 그러나 부르는 소리가 들릴 때, 우리는 하나님의 나라에서 다시 한 번 우리의 사업에 임할 것이다. – 교회증언 7, 17.
The Warfare which God’s Servants are Carrying on
The Lord who never slumbers or sleeps watches over each worker, choosing his sphere of labor. All heaven is watching the warfare which, under apparently discouraging circumstances, God’s servants are carrying on. New conquests are being achieved, new honors won, as the Lord’s servants, rallying round the banner of their Redeemer, go forth to fight the good fight of faith. All the heavenly angels are at the service of the humble, believing people of God; and as the Lord’s army of workers here below sing their songs of praise, the choir above join with them in thanksgiving, ascribing praise to God and to His Son.
Nothing is apparently more helpless, yet really more invincible, than the soul that feels its nothingness and relies wholly on the merits of the Saviour. God would send every angel in heaven to the aid of such a one, rather than allow him to be overcome.
The battle cry is sounding along the line. Let every soldier of the cross push to the front, not in self-sufficiency, but in meekness and lowliness, and with firm faith in God. Your work, my work, will not cease with this life. For a little while we may rest in the grave, but, when the call comes, we shall, in the kingdom of God, take up our work once more. – Testimonies to the Church 7, 17.
