두려움은 영혼에게 아무런 위안도 주지 못함

 

그대들은 복음에 대하여 분명히 깨달아야 한다.

신앙적인 생활이란 음울과 슬픔의 생활이 아니라

그리스도와 같은 위엄과 거룩한 엄숙성과 결부된 화평과 기쁨의 생활이다.

 

우리는 의심, 공포, 불길한 예감을 마음에 품지 말라는 구주의 권고를 받고 있다.

이런 것들은 영혼에게 아무런 위안도 주지 못하며,

칭찬을 받기보다는 견책을 받아야 한다.

 

우리는 말할 수 없는 기쁨과 충만한 영광을 맛볼 수 있다.

 

Fear Brings No Relief to the Soul

 

You should have a clear apprehension of the gospel.

The religious life is not one of gloom and of sadness but

of peace and joy coupled with Christlike dignity and holy solemnity.

 

We are not encouraged by our Saviour to cherish doubts and fears

and distressing forebodings; these bring no relief to the soul

and should be rebuked rather than praised.

 

We may have joy unspeakable and full of glory.
