그리스도를 따르는 자들은 그분께서 하신 것처럼 일해야 한다.
우리는 주린 자를 먹이고 벗은 자를 입히며 고통받는 자와 슬퍼하는 자들을 위로해야 한다.
우리는 절망하는 자들을 위하여 봉사하고 소망이 없는 자들에게 소망을 고취시켜 주어야 한다.
그러면 우리에게도 "네 의가 네 앞에 행하고 여호와의 영광이 네 뒤에 호위하리"(사 58：8)라는
약속이 성취될 것이다.
이기심 없는 봉사에서 나타난 그리스도의 사랑은
악인을 개심시키는 데 있어서 칼이나 법정보다 더 효과적일 것이다.
칼이나 법정은 법을 어기는 자를 공포에 떨게 하는 데 필요하지만
사랑의 선교사는 이 이상의 것을 행할 수 있다.
흔히 마음은 책망을 받게 되면 강퍅하게 되지만 그리스도의 사랑 아래서는 녹을 것이다.
선교사는 비단 육체적인 질병을 낫게 할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라
죄인을 죄의 문둥병에서 정결하게 하실 수 있는 크신 의원께로 인도할 수 있다.
하나님께서는 당신의 종들을 통하여
병든 자와 불행한 자와 악령에 사로잡힌 자들이 당신의 음성을 듣게 되기를 원하신다.
그분께서는 당신의 인간 대리자들을 통하여
세상이 알지 못하는 그런 보혜사로 나타나기를 원하신다.

?Aroma of Life | The Heart Will Harden Under Reproof; But It Will Melt Under the Love of Christ?
The followers of Christ are to labor as He did.
We are to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and comfort the suffering and afflicted. We are to minister to the despairing, and inspire hope in the hopeless.
And to us also the promise will be fulfilled, “Thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy rearward.” Isaiah 58:8.
The love of Christ, manifested in unselfish ministry, will be more effective in reforming the evildoer than will the sword or the court of justice.
These are necessary to strike terror to the lawbreaker, but the loving missionary can do more than this. Often the heart will harden under reproof; but it will melt under the love of Christ.
The missionary cannot only relieve physical maladies, but he can lead the sinner to the Great Physician, who can cleanse the soul from the leprosy of sin.
Through His servants, God designs that the sick, the unfortunate, those possessed of evil spirits, shall hear His voice.
Through His human agencies He desires to be a Comforter such as the world knows not.
